All that you have to do is shoot at the sharks and bombs that are coming at you without you yourself being hit. You are not stationary and can move left or right around the screen by using the arrows to make a circle around the screen. But be aware that you are only using the left and right arrows and not the up and down arrows. On a number of occasions I tried using those as it is logistically what my fingers naturally go for and I was stuck and got hit.</p> <p>Shooting at the oncoming enemy is very simple and easy and can be done by using the space bar. The submarine only has a certain amount of energy in it so once you start running out you have to look for the colored circles which are also shot out from the centre. If you manage to land one of these then you get an energy boost. 2 Deep is a simple game which is easy to play and after a while I found it became a bit monotonous together with the music which was more than annoying after a while. For some reason I was expecting a kind of volley ball game but that could just have been my misconception. The game is very simple and sweet but difficult to control.</p> <p>Basically the aim of the game is to try and save the entire star fish i.e. hit them without being hit by a moving fish or object. It sounds simple enough but controlling the ball is not as easy as it seems at first . By using the arrows you can move the ball up and down backwards and forwards. All along you have to remember that it is a ball and can have some erratic bouncing that you can't always control.</p> <p>There are starfish dotted around the screen which you need to try and hit with different barriers in the way in addition to the moving fish. You are working against a time limit of 70 seconds per game and given 3 lives. A life is lost when you hit a fish and the ball explodes and you go back to the beginning but the number of stars you have already saved remains. If you succeed in each level, you are given an extra life and more time in addition to going up a level which becomes harder as you go. You have to maneuver the tiles around in order to make the picture?</p> <p>Well Click N Slide is just like those old fashioned games, the only difference being that you play the game online and you click to slide pieces rather than pushing them physically. There are different pictures to choose from and you can choose the number of tiles you want to play from 3x3 up to 6x6. The game is very simple and all you have to do is click on the tile you want to move and it will move if there is a space for it to move to.</p> <p>At the side of the puzzle, you are told the time it is taking you to complete the puzzle, what percentage of the puzzle you have completed and of course the number of moves it has taken you to get to the stage you are at. There are numerous different pictures to choose from ranging from animals to landscapes to city views. This is a great game. It is a thinking man's game. </p> <p>Blox can be found in the Games2go website. It is considered a puzzle game but I think it should feature as one of the top games. It is a simple idea but very clever. Basically you have all these different levels of puzzles where you have to try and get the same color blocks together to match causing them to explode and disappear. Before you start each level it is a good idea to figure out what you think you want to do as once you have moved your blocks, there is no turning back. The blocks also work with gravity, in other words if there is a hole to fall down, they will.</p> <p>As the levels progress you will see it gets harder and harder making you think even more. Do not despair though, if you don't manage it the first time you get a chance to retry the round until you do. What is nice about this game is that not only is it fun but you also get to think through each game. I sort of feel like I am taking my brain for a workout when I play Blox as I have to think everything through and make sure it works before I make my move. But there are a few limitations with this. Firstly the basket is only in one place of the screen and if you miss it then that is it, your little animal has flown away, never to be seen again. If you hit a bee then the balloon pops and you lose a life. Together with this you have a time limit of minute to get a stated number of furry animals into the basket.</p> <p>At first it is quite difficult to understand the controls of this game as you think you can click anywhere and just by chance get one of the fast moving furry animals into the basket. But as you practice and play the game more and more, you will notice that there is a method to where and how to click on the animals in order to get them in the baskets. The furry animals move very fast so you need to make sure you are watching at all times and try not to click when the bees come as the balloons will pop. At each level there are more bees and obstacles along the way but also there are more bonus symbols to help you a long. But there is a trick, only bubbles of the same color are able to pop other bubbles. The shooter churns out bubbles of three different colors, yellow pink and blue. Small bubbles are not able to pop other bubbles but join other small ones to make larger bubbles. At the same time as you are trying to pop bubbles there is a rainbow that is slowly coming down on you. The aim of the game is to try and pop all the bubbles before the rainbow hits you.</p> <p>It all sounds very easy but when you are limited according to the color of the bubbles that the machine churns out and of course the speed at which it churns them out which is slower than the moving bubbles, you have limits. Having said that it is a fun game, not too fast pace and one that you can definitely play as an interlude to heavier tasks. I have played it a number of times and I think I will play it some more. But I need to master my skills in order to get better points and of course proceed to higher levels. This means that you need an enormous amount of hand eye coordination in order to manipulate the helicopter to get past all the blocks along the way.</p> <p>I have played this game a number of times and I still can't get that far. It is fun and challenging despite it being a very simple game to play. Helicopter game is the sort of game that you can challenge your friends with and see how far they can get i.e. how many meters they can travel without crashing. But, I have to also admit that this game is rather addictive and sometimes it is difficult to tear yourself away from it when playing. The idea of the game is very simple but even for kids it is a waste of time and not much fun.</p> <p>Firstly the instructions are all in Japanese or Chinese, it is hard to tell which is which when you don't speak or read the language. The only thing that I am sure about is the "start" button which is in English and the "Game Over" which is plastered across the screen when the game finishes.</p> <p>As I understand it, in this game you have to try and guess which of three spinning boxes holds a little man. If you guess correctly he is placed on a grid at the bottom of the screen and you can carry on to the next level of spinning boxes. If you guess incorrectly, the game is over. I played this game a few times as I was sure I was missing something here, some piece of information which would make the game all the more fun and have a little meaning to it.</p> <p>There is nothing in this game of 8 Up that indicates any story, any fun or anything other than simple choosing one of the spinning boxes. It is very simple and easy to play. Basically you are a little man that has to avoid falling bombs.</p> <p>At the same time as the bombs fall from the sky, there are also stones on the ground that bounce all over the place. By using the horizontal arrows you can move backwards and forwards and the "Z" key allows you to jump up and down avoiding the bombs. If you hit a stone, you die. If a bomb hits you, it is the end of the game.</p> <p>There is a time limit to Air Support and the longer you last in the game the more quickly the bombs are dropped and the game progresses. On the left hand corner of the screen you can see the time running out. Every time you hit a stone, the time moves more quickly. The game is accompanied by appropriate music and also the graphics are great. Each level has a different background making the game more interesting. Also every time you start a new game the graphics can be different from the previous game. </p> <p>Air Support is what I would call a no-brainer; it is a game that you can play at any time as an interlude to your regular schedule. Not only does it provide an escape but there is also a lot of fun and challenge associated with it. You cannot jump over anything and if you hit a wall you are stuck and have to turn around. The idea of the game is to push three separate stones into holes. In the first round the game is very simple with very little maneuvering on the part of the bug. But as you will see at the side, the number of moves you make is also charted. As the rounds progress the game gets harder.</p> <p>Round two has three separate holes and each one is next to the other, you have to think of a way of getting the first stone into the furthest hole. As the game progresses you will see that there are more and more challenges as you go along. Each round gives you the chance to restart the round if you get stuck rather than going back to the beginning. There is no music accompanying the game but rather little blobs of sound every time you manage to move a stone and one big pop when you get it in the hole. Each hen has a letter and the aim of the game is to build as many words as possible from the letters that you are given. The larger the word the bigger the score. Scores start at 100 points for 3 letter words and go up to 1600 points for a 7 letter word. There is always at least one 7 letter word in each game.</p> <p>You can choose to play the timed mode or the untimed mode. Whichever you choose there is also the chance at the very beginning before you see the letters to guess how many words you may get and bet on this, therefore giving you the chance to win more bonus points. I tend to stay on the more conservative side by choosing the minimum 8 words which gives me a bonus of 1000 points. Chicktionary is fun and exciting while providing a rare intellectual challenge. Playing with the timer puts you under more pressure but this only adds to the fun and excitement. It is also a game that I could play jointly with others to try and see how many words we can get together.</p> <p>By either typing or clicking on the letters to build the word you can make the word and press enter when you are done. The board or egg basket at the top shows you the words that you have already found and if you try and duplicate it will stop you. The bowling game is a 2 dimensional game that is extremely realistic with sound added also.</p> <p>Just like with a real bowling game, all that you have to do is line up your bowling ball correctly and click on the mouse to shoot. Of course here you are not really controlling the ball like you think you are. In a real bowling game you have more control over the direction of the ball. Although with practice you do get a grip on how to play this online bowling game and soon you will be knocking down pins just like at a regular bowling alley.</p> <p>Don't be put off if you can't get any pins down in the first few goes. That happened to me also until I realized that the more power you push off the ball with i.e. press down on the mouse, the more power your ball has and you actually might manage to get some pins down. After playing a few games, not rounds, full games, I still did not manage to get a strike so I am not sure what happens when you do. But, the scoring is just like a regular game with two shots per round. You also have the option of playing with 2 players which adds a nice competitive element to the game making it even more fun. I consider it to be a glorified version of Pac Man where you are a little energized round sea creature called Nemo who is trying to push all of the energy bubbles into a transporter and therefore win the round.</p> <p>The aim of the game is to try and get the bubbles into the transporter and get rid of as much dirt as possible before the time runs out. It sounds easy enough but as you proceed from level to level it gets harder and more complicated to get the bubbles into the transporter. There are obstacles in the way all along and in addition you are chased by evil fish that can gobble you up or you can get smashed by heavy stones if you do not move out of the way in enough time.</p> <p>Moving your little Nemo is very simple and can be done using the cursor arrows. If you want to clear an area of dirt you can press on the space bar and an arrow at the same time. Nemo is nimble and quick but you have to use your head to get far in this game and I suggest you look very carefully at the game before you start moving. A wrong move can cost you a life and end the game early. There are keys in awkward places that you need to get hold of in order to open the transporter and start pushing the bubbles in. All that you have to do is shoot at the nasty cowboys as they pop out from all over the place. The scene in front of you is a standard western saloon of two floors, with windows and a balcony. Of course you also have the regular saloon doors that swing back and forth with the offending cowboys that you need to shoot at.</p> <p>2D Shootout is all about beating your best score. The game does not last for more than about a minute and in that time you need to shoot as many of the cowboys as you can from where they pop out. Shooting is very simple and done by clicking with the mouse. What is difficult in this game, if at all, is that your reflexes have to be quick in order to get the cowboys. Sometimes two or more come out at any one time and you have to be very quick with your mouse and click on both of them before they disappear. You are not playing against anyone in this game but yourself and it is fun to try and better your score each game in addition to anticipating where the next cowboy will pop out from. The aim of the game is to fill the full grid i.e. all of the squares with color. You do this by clicking on different squares which reveal combinations of filled in squares. But, once you click on another square, a different combination comes up on the grid. What you have to do is work out which squares need to be clicked on in order to fill the whole grid.</p> <p>Crazy Boxes sounds very simple and easy to play but when you actually do start playing it, it can become quite frustrating. That is why I describe it either as a really difficult puzzle or a game for kids. Toddlers or kids would probably just click away aimlessly on each of the squares and at some point manage to get the right combination. If you want help when playing Crazy Boxes, you can click on the solution button and little yellow ticks will appear on the boxes you need to click on in order to make a fully colored grid. You are the masked crusader and have to battle your way through many of the enemies and falling objects in order to reach your goal. Movement is by way of the arrows. Jumping is done by pressing on the up arrow, dodging by the down arrow. Movement left and right is by using the left and right arrow keys. When I played the game a few times, it seems the only way to actually get rid of one of the enemies is by using the control key which makes Batman punch out at the enemy. By depressing the space bar, Batman can extend his batrope to get across high buildings or waterways and so on.</p> <p>This is most definitely a fast action game and you really need to keep your wits about you when playing. After a few games you will begin to notice a pattern to how the shots are fired and the punches are thrown. Getting more points in this game can be done if you pay attention to the timings and always watch what is happening around you. You are given 3 lives to begin with but every time you get punched down or shot at, you lose a life and have to go back to the beginning of that section. In the game "A Stitch in Time" which can be found on the games2go website, you are a cunning and fast red headed woman who has to make her way through many different levels of adventure and fighting in order to save objects from being stolen in a museum and overcome all of the obstacles along the way.</p> <p>A Stitch in Time is played using the arrows and space bar as controls. The up and down arrows let the girl jump up and down respectively when she is being shot at. The left and right arrows move her backwards and forwards. By using the space bar, she does a big leg sweep which is more like a judo move than anything else. This game is very fast action and you need to keep your wits about you when you play. By picking up the walkie talkie looking items you can get more ammunition to protect yourself.</p> <p>I would like to be able to tell you what the higher levels are like but unfortunately I did not manage to get past the first level after playing numerous games. You are timed for each game and once the time is up, you can automatically restart the game with new time or just exit and come back to it some time later. I would like to say that I loved this game as in theory it sounded great but I found it a little boring after a while as how many times can you jump and sweep spin the fighting girl. Plants and flowers are growing like wild and you have to try and match up a minimum of five of the same flowers or plants in a row before more come. The idea is to try and keep the garden as clear as possible. It sounds very easy and to begin with it is but as the game progresses the flowers and plants come more quickly. In addition if there is not a clear path available to where you want to replant the flower or plant then you cannot move it.</p> <p>Blooming Gardens can be found in the Puzzles section of <a href="http://www.games2go.co.uk">www.games2go.co.uk</a> and it is definitely worth having a go at this game. Not only is it fun and challenging but there is a lovely background sound of birds and bees in a garden atmosphere. The game is played by only using your mouse so you need to have good control. At first it is a little frustrating as the plants don't seem to move so easily but as the game progresses and you practice more you will find that it is easier to play. This game is most definitely a challenge game and not one that you can play without thinking and trying hard. Bob is armed with a gun that shoots bullets that look like balls at strange looking animals, all by pressing on the space bar. The idea of the game does have potential but the actual playing of it, is rather tedious and boring.</p> <p>By using the left and right arrows you can move Bob backwards and forwards. The vertical arrow will make him jump and if you press the right arrow and the vertical arrow then he moves forward and jumps at the same time, the same applies for the left arrow. By pressing the down arrow you make Bob duck in case there are some nasty animals in the way. As the game progresses it becomes more and more evident that it is all the same. Basically you have little patches of grass that you have to jump on to and move along without being hit by the moving animals or falling off.</p> <p>Every time you are hit by a moving animal you lose a life, a player gets a total of three lives per game. You can shoot and kill the animals or just jump over them. The game is very much about coordination and being able to move, jump and kill while also looking at the screen. Normally I enjoy games like this but for some reason I did not here, it could be to do with the boring graphics and lack of sound. Naughty penguins have stolen what they thought was tuna but it was really shiny packages ready to be delivered for Christmas. The elf called Oliver has to work very hard to get these presents back. Adventure Elf can be found in the free Games2Go website under the adventure heading.</p> <p>Although Adventure Elf sounds easy there are a lot of tricks in it that make it fun and challenging. In the first round it is very simple to get to the penguins and kill them off thereby getting the presents back. The elf moves by way of the right and left arrows and can jump by pressing on the space bar. Along the way there are many obstacles that Oliver the Elf needs to overcome such as jumping over wooden crates that hold Christmas goodies and climbing up buildings without falling off. It sounds simple but when you come to play it is quite difficult.</p> <p>As each level progresses the elf has more penguins to catch and harder tasks to overcome. Each level offers extra points that can be won by eating the doughnuts, biscuits, peppermints and other goodies. Oliver the elf needs to be careful as he goes that the does not fall too high or get knocked down in which case he loses a life. The elf has three lives throughout the course of the game. </p> <p>In the version I played, there is a time limit of one and a half minutes to try and reach the target number of penguins and get as many points as possible. The timer can be clearly seen at the bottom of the screen. As the time runs out, you are made aware by the timer going down until it beeps out of time. The aim of the game is to try and get the penguins together with as many points as possible. In other words there are only seven balloons and if you pop all of them i.e. get 7 letters wrong you are out of the game. The board is very simple with a man sitting at the side of it holding a megaphone and 7 balloons. In the centre of the screen you will see dashes according to the number of letters that there are in the word that you are trying to guess. Underneath the dashes or spaces is the alphabet.</p> <p>The game starts as soon as you are ready and click on the first letter that you are guessing. I tend to go through all of the vowels first as that is the most obvious. Once you have been through the vowels then you really have to start thinking. If you get a letter wrong, the megaphone man not only pops a balloon but also sends out a smart comment like" Ouch that hurts" or " I thought you had this one" and so on. They aren't exactly encouraging comments but they do make you want to get the word and beat the system. If you take too much time between letter choices, you also get comments. At the bottom of a grid you are given a sum that you have to complete by clicking on the numbers. For example it could be ?+? =10 or even higher numbers. You can use as many numbers as you want to get to the solution. The trick of the game is to do each sum as quickly as possible. You have a time limit to complete as many sums as possible in the given time. If you work extra quickly then you get bonus points and bonus time.</p> <p>The essence of the game is that you have to try and beat your previous score each time. The more you play the game the better you get, not only does your basic math improve but you also learn how to answer the sums as quickly as possible. There is no music or any other distractions with this game and all that you have to do is concentrate on answering the sums correctly. If for example you click on an apple that has 3 bad apples next to it, then you know to stay away from the three squares that are closest to the most recently revealed square.</p> <p>In this game if you click on an apple that has no bad apples next to it, it actually reveals all the surrounding squares giving you a good advantage. If you click on a bad apple then the game is over but not before you have to watch a friendly slug appearing and the bad apple being eaten, all ending with it shriveling up- yum!</p> <p>Bad Apple is a cute game that looks very entertaining and actually is. The concept and instructions make the game sound so easy but when you come to play it, it is really rather difficult.</p> <p>All Out is based on a simple board or circuit of lights. All that you have to do is try and put out all of the lights, but all of the lights are connected. If you click on one light (circle) you will see that it puts out other lights at the same time. The trick of the game is trying to find out which circuits are connected and therefore try and put out all of the lights.</p> <p>It sounds simple doesn't it? But let me tell you it is not. While you are trying to put out the lights you are also being timed and in addition the number of tries it takes you to put out the lights are registered. There is a know it all looking man sitting at the side of the board smoking his cigar and looking bored while you try and solve the puzzle. If you do succeed in solving the puzzle then you can go up a level where it is even harder to solve. Each level is more difficult, for the first few levels you can request the solution if you give up, but after a certain number of levels, there is no more help and you are on your own. This in itself is already quite exciting. If you are familiar with the game of Connect 4 then you won't be disappointed by the layout and way the game works. The cursor moves across the top of the grid which is a good representation of the 3-d game board that is used and where you click is where the token will fall.</p> <p>The aim of the game, if you are not familiar with it, is to get 4 counters of the same color in a row, whether it is horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Where you place the counters is critical for how you can build up your row of 4. There are no tricks to this game and it is very pleasant to play and easy to access.</p> <p>If I were asked to criticize this game, the one thing I think could be added is a bit of music, maybe some just at the beginning and some at the end to introduce and end the game nicely. This is another of those thinking fast games that you can play to exercise your brain cells.</p> <p>In this game there are 3 different levels. Level 1 is played on a grid that is 4x4, you have to try and match up at least 3 same colored atoms in a row before the whole grid is filled up. Atoms appear in groups and very quickly. This is not a game where you can sit back and daydream, you need to be on the ball and alert the whole time in order to stay in the game. As soon as the grid is full, the game is over.</p> <p>The aim of the game is to avoid the atoms filling up the whole grid, when you play level 2, the grid is 6x6 i.e. there are 36 squares that need to be filled up with atoms. You would think then that this is easier to go further but not so at all, you sometimes have to move atoms all the way across the grid in order to match them up with the same color. The 3rd level is a grid of 8x8, 64 squares in total which is even harder to stay in the game for long.</p> <p>The more groups of atoms that you succeed in getting off the grid, the more points you get but don't hold your breath as they are not easy to get.
