  • Bowling

Bowling which can be found in the Games2Go website is so realistic that when I played I almost wished I was there in the bowling alley; I might have got a better score also. The bowling game is a 2 dimensional game that is extremely realistic with sound added also.

Just like with a real bowling game, all that you have to do is line up your bowling ball correctly and click on the mouse to shoot. Of course here you are not really controlling the ball like you think you are. In a real bowling game you have more control over the direction of the ball. Although with practice you do get a grip on how to play this online bowling game and soon you will be knocking down pins just like at a regular bowling alley.

Don't be put off if you can't get any pins down in the first few goes. That happened to me also until I realized that the more power you push off the ball with i.e. press down on the mouse, the more power your ball has and you actually might manage to get some pins down. After playing a few games, not rounds, full games, I still did not manage to get a strike so I am not sure what happens when you do. But, the scoring is just like a regular game with two shots per round. You also have the option of playing with 2 players which adds a nice competitive element to the game making it even more fun. Until I get the hang of it more and get my first strike, I will not be challenging anyone to a game just yet.

  • Aqua Energizer

This is a cute little game that can be found at the Games2Go website. I consider it to be a glorified version of Pac Man where you are a little energized round sea creature called Nemo who is trying to push all of the energy bubbles into a transporter and therefore win the round.

The aim of the game is to try and get the bubbles into the transporter and get rid of as much dirt as possible before the time runs out. It sounds easy enough but as you proceed from level to level it gets harder and more complicated to get the bubbles into the transporter. There are obstacles in the way all along and in addition you are chased by evil fish that can gobble you up or you can get smashed by heavy stones if you do not move out of the way in enough time.

Moving your little Nemo is very simple and can be done using the cursor arrows. If you want to clear an area of dirt you can press on the space bar and an arrow at the same time. Nemo is nimble and quick but you have to use your head to get far in this game and I suggest you look very carefully at the game before you start moving. A wrong move can cost you a life and end the game early. There are keys in awkward places that you need to get hold of in order to open the transporter and start pushing the bubbles in. Aqua Energizer is a great game to play on a regular basis as there are so many levels and it is rare that you remember what you did in the previous game so it something you can come back to time and time again.

  • 2D Shootout

2D Shootout which can be found at the Games2go website is a simple but fun shooting game to play. As an interlude from a heavy work schedule or as an evening pastime, you can quite easily play this easy and quick game.

The game is very simple and based around cowboys and western saloons. All that you have to do is shoot at the nasty cowboys as they pop out from all over the place. The scene in front of you is a standard western saloon of two floors, with windows and a balcony. Of course you also have the regular saloon doors that swing back and forth with the offending cowboys that you need to shoot at.

2D Shootout is all about beating your best score. The game does not last for more than about a minute and in that time you need to shoot as many of the cowboys as you can from where they pop out. Shooting is very simple and done by clicking with the mouse. What is difficult in this game, if at all, is that your reflexes have to be quick in order to get the cowboys. Sometimes two or more come out at any one time and you have to be very quick with your mouse and click on both of them before they disappear. You are not playing against anyone in this game but yourself and it is fun to try and better your score each game in addition to anticipating where the next cowboy will pop out from. This is definitely a game that I will play again!

  • Crazy Boxes

I normally love puzzle games but after playing the Crazy Boxes game I am not so sure that I love puzzles anymore. I can't decide whether it is a fun game or a silly game that toddlers should be playing.

Crazy Boxes which can be found at the free Games2go website is based around a simple square grid. The aim of the game is to fill the full grid i.e. all of the squares with color. You do this by clicking on different squares which reveal combinations of filled in squares. But, once you click on another square, a different combination comes up on the grid. What you have to do is work out which squares need to be clicked on in order to fill the whole grid.

Crazy Boxes sounds very simple and easy to play but when you actually do start playing it, it can become quite frustrating. That is why I describe it either as a really difficult puzzle or a game for kids. Toddlers or kids would probably just click away aimlessly on each of the squares and at some point manage to get the right combination. If you want help when playing Crazy Boxes, you can click on the solution button and little yellow ticks will appear on the boxes you need to click on in order to make a fully colored grid. After a few games of Crazy Boxes you can easily pick up the methods of the game and it becomes boring and tedious, not a game that I will go back and play again and again.

  • 2D Paintball

If you are someone who spends a lot of time on the phone when working or in meetings for hours with many others, then 2D Paintball is the game for you. It can be found under the Sports section of the Game2Go website and is a simple but fun game to play.

The screen is set up as an office with a cannon pointed at the people sitting in the office. The object of the game is to try and hit the Smiley faces that pop out from behind the files, computers and other areas around the office with your cannon. You control the cannon by moving the mouse around the screen and you hit a Smiley face by clicking. The game is very simple; you can choose to play it with the accompanying sound effects or without.

In order to proceed to the next level you need to achieve at least 70% efficiency in hitting the Smiley's. Each level only lasts 35 seconds so you don't have much time. The Smiley's are everywhere and pop out totally at random so it is not easy to keep track of them and catch them all. It took me a good few tries to get to the next level but once I got there the sense of achievement was great! This is a game I will be playing loads especially when I have those long conference calls that just go on and on, at least 2D paintball will keep me busy and happy!
