When I first read the rules for JT's Blocks I figured it was going to be a pretty easy, straightforward game, like a lot of the other puzzle games I had played on line. I found it at the UK and Ireland Yahoo site and since I could play it for free (at the time there were 648 other people around the world playing the game - you do not have to be in the UK or Ireland while playing), I would give it a go. The principle of JT's Blocks is like so many of these other colored blocks games. You get a grid with a lot of different blocks (different colors with different shapes on them; there are 6 altogether) and you have to remove as many from the board as possible. To do this, at least 2 of the same ones have to be touching either vertically or horizontally. Obviously the more that are together, the better (you clear more at once). As well, you get more points for the more blocks that are cleared at one time.
So while I was going on my merry way knocking off blocks on this game, I was not paying much attention to exactly what I was doing. Why would I have to? The game was clearly so simple. Or was it? I soon realized that actually it was not at all simple. It may be easy and straightforward initially but then you can find yourself with no blocks the same touching each other (and thus not able to move at all). So I started taking a different tactic. I started to think about what would happen when I moved some blocks, in other words, what OTHER blocks would fall down and if they would be able to join together to be removed. As well, there are 3 flashing white blocks. If you click on them you can flip some of the blocks around which could help you if you have none left that are in a row and can thus be removed, so that can help. But use them carefully as once you have used them, you are on your own. Thus I played the game slower but with greater strategy and then my scores went up much more!
